The activity began with performances of Baojing Tujia folk culture, such as Tujia prayer ceremonies, Youshui boatmen’s songs, Tujia mountain songs, bronze bell dance, and hand-waving dance. With rural revitalization as its theme, it is aimed at calling on artists to create works of the people, from the people and for the people.
Fang Xiang, director of the Landscape Painting Department of the China National Academy of Painting, mentioned in his speech that this activity, exercising the principle of “from the people, to the people”, demonstrates the practice achievements of “plunging into the thick of life and engaging with the people,” and unfolds a splendid picture scroll of the great era through the vivid portrait of rural fields, landscapes and ancient villages.
The five-day event allows artists to carry out artistic creation and communication through various forms like trips for inspiration, art creation and work exhibitions. Sketching members can create artwork at such enchanting places as Shawan Village, Baiyunshan Village and Yayu Village of Wanmipo Town, Longmudong Village, Fuku Village and Sifangcheng Village of Qianling Town, as well as Ganxi Village of Fuxing Town, which will be displayed at Hunan Art Museum in August to drive rural revitalization.
